Lee Earns All-American Honors

Four Pioneers competed at the NCAA Cross Country National meet earlier today. Zach Lee and Walker Rynes began the day running an aggressive race settling with the lead pack early in the race. As the race progressed, both runners started to fade back. With a mile to go, both runners were outside the top-40 and outside of All-American status. Lee was able to finish strong and claw his way all the way back to 30th place, earning him All-American honors, the first in his career. Lee finished the 8,000m course in 24:53. Rynes crossed the finish in 57th place with a time of 25:10.

The women's race followed with Katie Wardinski and Johanna Meister running the 6,000m course. Both runners got out in the middle of the field and maintained their place for most of the race. Wardinski finished in 99th place with a time of 22:13. Meister crossed the finish in 109th place with a time of 22:16. This was both of their first national appearances.
