Pioneers defeat Iowa Wesleyan Tigers

MOUNT PLEASANT, IA. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team went 1-1 at the Iowa Wesleyan triangular on Saturday in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.

In the first match, the Pioneers' swept the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers 25-16, 25-18, and 25-14. Senior right side hitter Amber Williams recorded an impressive 13 kills in the three sets. Meanwhile, junior setter Allie Carter logged 19 assists and senior libero Lindsey Decker logged 19 digs.

In the second match, the Pioneers fell to the Spalding University Golden Eagles in five sets, 25-16, 22-25, 25-15, 20-25, and 9-15. Junior outside hitter Allison Jensen recorded 20 kills in the five sets, while Williams logged 17. Carter had 47 assists, and Decker logged 17 digs. Sophomore setter Grace Austin added 15 digs.

The Pioneers, 9-18 on the year, return to action on Friday, at UW-La Crosse at 7 p.m., and Saturday, at UW-Eau Claire at noon.
