PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team lost 3-1 to the Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire Saturday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. The game was the first conference game of the season for the Pioneers. The loss moves UW-Platteville to 4-6 on the season and 0-1 in conference.
The Blugolds struck first in the game, with Brooke Johnson scoring off of an Erin Gietman pass with 30:40 remaining in the first half. UW-Eau Claire scored again on a Jocelyn Etten goal with 18:41 on the clock. Caroline Henderson later scored to give the visitors a 3-0 lead with under 10 minutes' left in the half.
The Pioneers were able to get on the board 14 minutes into the second half on a goal by Yamilex Jaramillo. This ended the scoring for both teams, as both defenses were able to lock down their opponents for the remainder of the game.
The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday Oct. 5 at UW-La Crosse. UW-La Crosse will enter the game with a 7-2 record for the year. The team's next home game will be Saturday, Oct. 8 against UW-Oshkosh.
