#9 Pioneers fall to #3 Duhawks

The Pioneers' 1-2 punch of Jon Goetz and Grant Wedepohl provided the highlights for UW-Platteville, who fell in a battle of top 10 teams Friday.  Third-ranked Loras beat ninth-ranked UW-Platteville 38-8 in both teams' first dual meet of the season in Dubuque.

Goetz overwhelmed Dakotah Peterson at 174 pounds, recording a technical fall. Coming off three shutout wins in last weekend's Super 8 Invitational, Goetz built a 16-0 lead when the match was stopped late in the third period.

Wedepohl, who also won a title last Saturday at the Super 8 Invitational, edged Awais Arain 4-3 at 184 pounds. The undefeated Wedepohl is ranked fourth in the country in his weight class by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

The Duhawks won the other eight matches, with three coming via pins.
