PLATTEVILLE — Sophomore center Allison Prestegaard recorded six blocks in Saturday afternoon's 91–71 Senior Day loss to visiting UW–Oshkosh to become UW–Platteville's single-season block record.
Prestegaard's six rejections versus the 14th-ranked Titans gives the Amboy, Ill. native 94 on the season, and eclipsing the previous record of 90 set by Pam Soman during the 1988–89 campaign. She is currently second in the nation in Division 3 at 4.3 blocks per game. Prestegaard also had 11 points and three rebounds in Saturday's loss as the Pioneers fell to 6–17 overall and 2–10 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
UW–Platteville's lone senior Morgan Hartmann (Rochester, Minn.) was honored prior to the game. Hartman finished with eight points and five rebounds.
Sophomore guard Morgan Horstman (Bangor) scored a team-high 14 points and had two rebounds and two assists in the loss. Fellow sophomore Kassie Buchholz (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) added 10 points on 4 of 9 shooting and four rebounds. Sophomore Lexis Macomber (Lanark, Ill.) chipped in 11 points off the bench, and sophomore forward Kassie Hansen (La Crosse) finished with six points and a team-high six boards.
Junior guard Jaimee Pitt drained 5 of 6 from beyond the 3-point line and finished with a game-high 18 points and three rebounds to lead the Titans, who improved to 21–2 overall and a conference-best 11–1 with their seventh straight win.
Senior guard Taylor Schmidt scored seven of her nine points in the opening quarter as UWO blitzed coach Megan Wilson's Pioneers 34–12 in the opening quarter of play.
Both teams struggled early on, each trading misses. A Buchholz 3-pointer with 5:36 left in the first quarter tied the game at 6–6, but the Titans closed the quarter on a 28–6 run and never looked back.
Eliza Campbell finished with 11 points and three boards in just 15 minutes for the Titans. Isabella Samuels reached double figures with 10 points in 15 minutes off the bench for the winners.
The Pioneers will begin their final week of the regular season when they host UW–Stevens Point (17–7, 8–4 WIAC) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Bo Ryan Court.
