LaMere, Williams earn Top Regional Award.

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) awarded Ian LaMere and Amber Williams Midwest Regional Athlete of the Year awards.

 During the indoor season, LaMere ran the fastest 5,000m race for a Division III runner in 23 years. LaMere missed the national record at the Iowa State Classic by less than two seconds finishing in 13:54.88. He also ran a solo 3,000m at the UW-Platteville Select that resulted in the fastest converted time of the season. His 8:12.06 run was also a school and facility record.

Williams took the WIAC Conference meet by storm. She began by winning Friday's long jump in 5.85m (19-2.5). She came back Saturday to take the title in the triple jump in a conference record 12.33m (40-5.5). The mark was the best Division III mark of the season. Williams followed that performance with a win in the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.96.
