Pioneers split games vs. UW-Stout

PLATTEVILLE, Wis.—The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team ran its winning streak to four with a 6-2 win against visiting team University of Wisconsin-Stout Sunday before the Blue Devils halted it with a 9-1 victory in the second game.   

In game one, Jessy Tanel hit a two-run single in the fourth and a home run in the sixth inning. She and Thiana Wegner each had three hits, while Crystal Rote had two. Jess Butzen earned her seventh win of the year on the mound.

In the nightcap, UW-Stout scored once in the first, three runs in the second, twice in the third, once in the fourth, and twice in the sixth innings. Hailey Truman scored the Pioneers' lone run in the third inning. 

University of Wisconsin-Stout is now at 16-16 overall and 5-3 in the WIAC. The Pioneers, now 11-23 overall and 4-8 in WIAC, will travel to play against Concordia University-Wisconsin on Wednesday, April 26.
