Pioneers Keep Earning The ‘W’

 

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team has a six-game winning streak after a great weekend of play. On Saturday they earned a 2-1 win at Wisconsin Lutheran before returning home Sunday to shut out Lawrence University 4-0 at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium. 

Senior Jon Stopple scored both goals against Wisconsin Lutheran for the Pioneers with the winning goal coming in the 83rd minute on an assist from Lucas Aplin.

Against Lawrence University Brad Strobal scored two unassisted goals with the first coming in the 6th minute. The Pioneers were kept in check until scoring three times within 10 minutes midway through the second half on goals by and Logan Rinderknecht, Strobel, and Nick Hoklas. Pioneers goalkeeper Nate Miller saved all four shots taken at him, keeping Lawrence off the scoreboard.

Currently the Pioneers hold a 6-1 record, and Lawrence has a record of 1-5.

The Pioneers will hit the field again on Wednesday Sept. 20 at Augustana College at 7 p.m.
