PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Below are a list of all the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Athletic events taking place for the week of Jan. 7-Jan. 13.
Men’s Basketball (11-4, 4-2 WIAC)
This week: UW-Platteville men’s basketball team welcomes archrival 12th-ranked UW-Whitewater to Williams Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warhawks sit tied for second with UW-Stout and UW-La Crosse in the WIAC standings. UWW defeated NAIA No. 1 Cardinal Stitch, 91-81 last Wednesday and beat UW-River Falls, 68-63 in overtime. The Warhawks have four players averaging 10 or more points per game and are led by Quardell Young with 12.6.
Last week: The Pioneers suffered a tough loss at UW-La Crosse, 65-53, last Wednesday and routed UW-Superior, 96-55. Junior Chas Cross recorded his first double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds versus the Eagles. Cross scored a game-high 22 points all coming in the first-half, and finished the game with eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Senior Marcus Jackson recorded a career-high 18 points by going a perfect 7-7 from the floor and 2-2 from the free throw line with 16 points in the second-half; while Jake Manning added 14 points.
Women’s Basketball (5-10, 1-5 WIAC)
This week: UW-Platteville women’s basketball team travels to archrival 17th-ranked UW-Whitewater on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Warhawks are a perfect 5-0 in league play and post an 11-3 overall record after defeating UW-River Falls, 59-48, on Saturday. Courtney Kumerow leads UWW with 14.2 points per game followed by Kaitlyn Thill with 11.9.
Last week: The Pioneers fell to UW-La Crosse, 46-45, last Wednesday and to UW-Superior, 71-64, on Saturday. Elizabeth Lawinger led the Pioneers last week with 14 points, seven rebounds and six steals at UWL and scored a season-best 22 points versus UW-Superior.
This week: UW-Platteville wrestling team will host 17th-ranked Augustana on Tuesday for a non-conference dual. The Vikings won three of four matches at the Knox Duals on Saturday.

This week: UW-Platteville track & field teams will host the UW-Platteville Open on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
