It's a whole new year for the UW-Platteville Cheer & Stunt Team. Following an extremely busy and successful year of games and competitions the program continues to grow while representing the Pioneer community with pride and spirit. The team is made up of full-time students, (12 or more credits) in good standing within the University. Members of the team cheer for football, men's and women's basketball and compete in cheer and stunt competitions at a collegiate level.

In addition to cheering at home, some away games and competition, we also participate in Welcome Weekend, community service events and homecoming events.

Our members have the opportunity to mentor the Pioneer Sparkles, an inclusive cheerleading team for individuals with special needs. This team cheers at football and basketball games throughout the season.

FAQ’s

When are tryouts?

Tryouts are held prior to the start of classes. Athletes are required to move in early and participate fully in the week-long tryout practices and tryout. Please e-mail the coach for more detailed information at cheer@uwplatt.edu.

What do tryouts consist of?

Each athlete will be judged on sideline cheers, sideline dances, fight song, and stunting. Tumbling is not a requirement but is encouraged. All cheers, dances and fight song will be taught at tryout practices. Stunting requirements are sent with the tryout information.

What is the time commitment?

We practice Monday – Thursday 4pm-6pm. Football games are most Saturdays and basketball games are typically Wednesday nights and Saturdays. Practices are held for two hours prior to game time.

Team members will also be required to participate in team fundraisers and other events that are added to the schedule throughout the season.
